A good day always begins with a good morning.
I try and remind myself of this all of the time. If anyone knows how important having a good morning routine is, it's definitely me. My husband is in the military and for the last 2 years we have been moving around to different training bases and I've had to figure out a routine that works best for me, especially since transitioning to working from home. It's taken quite a long time but I think I've finally got it narrowed down and I know, no matter your situation, that this can definitely work for you too!
1. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE
First things first, right?! I cannot start my day without a homemade cup of my favorite espresso. I make my coffee, grab a quick bite (I love rice cakes with peanut butter and chia seeds, a bowl of GF oatmeal or a smoothie bowl topped with fruit, chia and slivered almonds) and head over to the couch to relax a bit.
2. START YOUR DAY IN PRAYER
While I am enjoying my breakfast and coffee and before I begin scrolling through social media on my phone, I try very hard to start my day by thanking God for all that I am grateful for and asking Him for help with something I am struggling with. I also love to listen to The God Minute Podcast or Our Daily Bread for just 10 minutes of scripture reading and prayer. On the days when I have a little more time, I continue with whatever Bible Study that I am currently working on. I find that by starting my day with a conversation with God and focusing on His Word really helps to lift my spirits and helps me to have a great rest of my day!
3. GET MOVIN'
Whether I have time for a full workout or not, doing something to get my blood flowing a little bit is always beneficial. A quick morning walk or run is great, 15 minutes of yoga or stretching or even just a quick 10 minute workout. I typically try to get my BBG workout in for the day. I love Kayla's 28 minute workouts and the fact that they can be done from home or the gym depending on the time I have that day.
4. PUT YOURSELF TOGETHER
Time for a shower and to get dressed for the day. Even though I work from home (and let's be honest, this doesn't happen everyday) I know that I feel so much more productive when I feel somewhat put together. Even if I'm just putting on a little bit of mascara, it makes such a big difference to actually pull out my makeup bag, throw on a cute sweater (I will probably still have sweatpants on lol, let's get real) and feel more ready to take on the day!
5. DIVE RIGHT IN
Time to check my planner and see what I have going on for the day and get to work! Whether you are working from home and just have to walk over to your desk or you are driving to the office (don't forget your coffee to-go!), I hope my tips above will help you to start your day off on the right foot! We'd love nothing more than for you to have a great morning and continue that motivation throughout the rest of your day!
Have a great day, girl boss!
