Pumpkin spice season is upon us! When it's too late to run to Starbucks to grab your own, make your own at home!
Being gluten-free (Celiac) it is tough for me to know what's truly in drinks made elsewhere, so I came up with a delicious recipe for you to make at home to have your very own #PSL (and know what's in it too!)
2 tablespoons pumpkin purée
2 cups milk (whole or 2%, or any unsweetened nondairy milk)
1/2 TSP pumpkin pie spice
2 TBSP Simple Syrup (add more if needed)
1 TBSP vanilla extract
2 shots espresso, or 1 cup freshly brewed coffee
Whipped cream + sprinkle cinnamon on top (if desired)
MAKES 2 SERVINGS
Heat up equal parts water and sugar on the stove (start with 4 TBSP sugar and 4 TBSP water). Heat until the sugar is dissolved, remove from the burner. In another sauce pan, add the pumpkin puree, milk, and 2 TBSP of the simple syrup. Heat using medium heat while mixing, until it is hot, but not boiling. Remove from heat and add in the vanilla and pumpkin pie spice.
Make 2 shots of espresso and add 1 shot into each of your favorite two Sweet Water Decor coffee mugs. Slowly pour in your PSL mixture, dividing into the two mugs. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon. Enjoy!!
