While many of us adore the holidays and the fun it brings—spending more time with family, indulgent foods, decorations, gift-giving, and more—this time of year can also bring on some added stress as calendars quickly get booked with parties, events, and shopping!
Here are three simple ways to stay stress-free this holiday season:
1. Take a little time for yourself.
In between the hustle and bustle of holiday parties and trips to the mall, don’t forget to take a little time for yourself. Give yourself permission to say “no” to a few engagements, and stay home. Take a bubble bath, pour a glass of wine, and light a candle. I’m currently loving this holiday scent from our sister company, Sweet Water Candle Co.
2. Make lists ahead of time and plan your trips to the mall.
Don’t underestimate the power of a good list. Grab a cute notebook and write down each person you need to buy for, as well as gift ideas for each, and budget information.
Keep your eyes peeled for coupons in the mail, and take a little time each day to glance over promotional emails in your inbox. Then, make a game-plan for your shopping trip and consider waiting until you have 2-3 good coupons and gift ideas to utilize your time in the best way. You’ll save money by not going to the mall 2-3 times per week—shoot for going 1-2 times the whole month of December. (If you’re anything like me, the more times you go shopping the more you tend to spend!)
Before heading out, ask yourself …. Who has the best deals right now? What coupons are out there? Is it cheaper and more convenient to just purchase the gift online?
3. Stay tuned to the SWD blog for gift ideas.
